Dr. Mecholaum is a professor and researcher at the Multidisciplinary Center for Cannabinoid Research at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Known as “the father of cannabis research,” he has studied and advocated for the healing effects of cannabis for over 50 years. In 1963, Dr. Mecholaum and his research team discovered and began studying CBD. In 1964, they established THC as the primary cannabinoid affecting the brain; then successfully isolated and synthesized it. In the years since, Dr. Mechoulam has made multiple discoveries of the cannabis plant and endocannabinoid system, prompting the Israel Ministry of Health to grant access to medical marijuana.
