Sasha Simon is the Program Manager for Safety First: Real Drug Education for Teens, an education curriculum through the Drug Policy Alliance. Safety First is the nation’s first drug education curriculum based on harm reduction, designed to be taught in high school classrooms by certified health teachers. The antithesis to failing, abstinence-based drug education programs like DARE, Safety First gives young people the information and skills they need to navigate the evolving landscape of cannabis production and legalization in the US, while also aligning with National Health Education Standards and Common Core Learning Standards.
